Before getting known as the one who gave birth to saas-bahu sagas on Indian television, Ekta Kapoor had already become a popular person for something completely different.

She was the one who introduced us to one of the most iconic and cult sitcoms of all times, 'Hum Paanch'. Back in the 90's, 'Hum Paanch' was the show which had the viewers glued to their TV sets for some hearty laughs everyday.

On popular demand, Ekta re-introduced the second season, years later with the original cast, and that season ran for a relatively shorter time.

And here's a piece of news that will surely leave you smiling!

The iconic show is all set to make a COMEBACK to television with a Season 3.

Yes! That's right.

According to a leading news daily, 'Hum Paanch' is all set to be back and will be titled 'Hum Paanch Phir Se'. However, unlike the previous two seasons, this season will not be helmed by Ekta but the makers of 'Dance India Dance' and 'Maharakshak Devi' (Essel Vision Productions) have instead come on board.

It is being said that this season will have the crux of the show retained along with the important elements but it will be given a modern twist. The casting of the show is in process and will comprise of new faces.

Hum Paanch holds my childhood memories...i can't thank EK enough for this gem...it was one of the best shows those days...it gives us vidya balan too...i just love this show...this new version w/o original cast n EK is definitely a flop...the ardent audience of this show will not accept it

why call it Hum Panch if the original cast is not there...people won't accept it if you use the name of a old classic show but show some new thing which is not related to the original show...now I can't and won't accept some new actress as Kajal Bhai or Sweety..all this characters were epic...if the production house is new...the cast and crew will be new then also give it a new name instead of calling it Hum Panch 3...

Hum Paanch is a classic because of the brilliant cast. If the cast isn't being retained, why call it Hum Paanch and ruin the beautiful memories associated with the original one? Disappointed and hoping against hope this doesn't get picked up.
