The phase for me was very, very difficult : Deepika Padukone as she recalls battling COVID-19

Actress Deepika Padukone recently opened up about her battle with COVID-19 that dates back to last year amid the ongoing Omicron scare. 

Speaking about how she recovered from the health scare within a few weeks after testing positive, the 83 actress shared that she had to take a break from work for two months.

Deepika told a news portal how she changed physically after battling COVID-19 and revealed that she was completely unrecognizable. 

The a actress thinks it was mostly because of the medication and steroids that she was put on. Calling the novel coronavirus ‘weird’, she reasoned, “your body feels different, your mind feels different.”

Padukone further went on to add that it wasn’t the virus that affected her over a prolonged period, but its after-effects that even caused her to take a break from work for two months simply because her mind wasn’t working. She said,

 “The phase for me was very, very difficult."

Deepika Padukone had contracted COVID-19 in April 2021, alongside her family, including father Prakash Padukone, mother Ujjala and sister Anisha who had also tested positive at the same time.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone will be next seen in Shakun Batra’s directorial ‘Gehraiyaan’ co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa. 

The film is set to premiere on the OTT platform on February 11.

Talking about the film, Shakun Batra shared in a statement that Gehraiyaan for him is not just a movie.
