'Diya Aur Baati Hum' got its viewers saddened when the news of the show going off-air was out. After a five year stint, the show shut shop in September.

And just when the sad news was sinking in, happiness followed with the show makers announcing a second season. This piece of news became much more believable, when actor Avinesh Rekhi, best known for his role in 'Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon' was roped in to play the lead role.

The show is now working on its casting process in full force. Actors Kabeer Kumar, who is best known for his role in 'Tum Hi Ho Bandu Sakha Tumhi' and debutant Mayank Arora have been roped in to play pivotal roles in the show.

Kabeer and Mayank will be playing the roles of the deceased Sandhya (Deepika Singh) and Suraj's (Anas Rashid) sons, Vansh and Ved respectively.

Several big offering for Star Plus are being lined up where it seems to blending the best of both worlds. Commercial biggies like 'Chandra Nandini', 'Meenu Mausi' and 'Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil along with content driven TV movie styled, 'P.O.W'. And now, 'Diya Aur Baati Hum 2' also makes it to the list.
