As heroines in the telly industry are growing with each new serial, the competition is also rising as actresses must keep up with their looks and their reputations at par with the characters they portray. We catch up with some of the most beautiful women in television - Divyanka Tripathi of Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, Surveen Chawla of Kaajjal, and Mouni Roy of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi and ask them how they define beauty and what it feels like to be some of the most beautiful women on today's television screen...

How will you define beauty? Is there really a true definition?
You are considered as one of the 'beautiful' women on the screen. How does that make you feel? Do you have a certain rapport or reputation you must live up to? I am greatful to my fans who have called me ‘Beautiful’. It is extremely tough to maintain this beauty, because thoughts need to be positive always. The person needs to be put in more effort and try not to deviate from the positive part… I always believe one thing, which my mom has told me.. My mom is a very beautiful woman and I remember her telling me that one way to remain beautiful and have a clean and pure heart, is even if a person says the worst thing about you, you should forgive the person and bless the person and think that the person did this, without knowing what he/she is doing.. So I always try my level best not to keep grudges and ill feelings for others.

Do you believe in natural beauty or is makeup a key role in adding some colour on the face?

Who do you think is the most beautiful actress on telly screen?                                             

Your character's name is Kaajjal. How does makeup, or in this case, kaajjal add to beauty? Do you believe it enhances it or only takes away its naturality? I would say that Kajal adds little bit of years to your face. In the serial, I was made to wear Kajal as my character name is synonymous to that. But I never preferred wearing it. If it was left to me, I will not put Kajal at all, because I feel that Kajal does not do anything to enhance beauty. On the other hand, it takes away the simplicity and softness to the eyes and gives a very hard appearance.. …

Your character is also known for wearing very pretty salwar kameez. How does clothing affect the beauty of a person? Is it all in the face or total appearance as well?

Oh yes, it is the total appearance that matters at the end of the day. I do not like to wear bright and gaudy dresses. When I am to attend a personal function, I would like to deck up. But onscreen, I want to be simple and realistic. I do not like to wear over the top clothes, I would rather prefer to wear clothes based on the mood in the scene. For example, when I am doing a crying scene, I would love to be simple and sobre and not look grand sporting a gaudy dress. My designers are very nice, I do a lot of 'khit-pit' with them regarding my dressing. Most of the colour combinations that I sport in Kaajal are my ideas… But one more aspect to dressing is that, one needs to have the capability of carrying it onscreen, no matter what dress the person is wearing..

How would you describe Krishnatulsi in terms of beauty?

Simplicity is her agenda, it can't be anything else.

Does your character take beauty as something very important?
