After being banned from acting for campaigning against DMDK party in 2011 during the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, comedian Vadivelu is making a comeback with Tamil period-comedy "Thenaliraman" and thanks the makers for the opportunity.

"I would like to thank the producers of 'Thenaliraman' for backing me despite being warned by several detractors, who were against my participation in any film. They believed in me and gave me the big opportunity to work in their film," Vadivelu told IANS.

Directed by Yuvaraj Dayalan, "Thenaliraman" features Vadivelu in double role as that of King Krishnadevaraya and Thenaliraman. It is produced by AGS Entertainments.

After burning his fingers once, Vadivelu has no plans to join politics again.

"Everything that happened in the past was my decision. I made a blunder and I dealt with it. I don't want to look back or think about it. I only want to concentrate on film career. I'm extremely happy to be back and I'm eagerly waiting to see how the audiences reacts to my comeback," he said.

Slated for an April 18 release, "Thenaliraman" will see Bollywood actress Meenakshi Dixit paired with the 53-year-old.

"I was told that my detractors had threatened actors from working with me in the film. I'm glad Meenakshi was generous enough to work with me. But I was always scared that she would leave the film midway, but she didn't and I'm thankful to her," he added.
