Tarun Khanna: I was apprehensive about the Shiv Tandav dance & had initially declined to do it!

Tarun Khanna has played the character of Mahadev for 8 times in his life now but Tarun confesses he declined performing the Shiv Tandav dance when he was asked to do it for the first time.

Recollecting the demanding situation, Tarun Khanna Said, "I am not a very good dancer and had initially denied doing the tandav, but it was very necessary for the script so I had no other option but to perform in front of the camera. I referred to many online videos that were enacted by professionals and very soon realized that it is going to be very difficult.”

Talking about what finally happened on the sets, he added, ”When the choreographer showed me the steps, they seemed very complicated but I knew I had to do it so I asked my team to shift the shoot to the evening and that I will require a lot of time to practice. I then practiced for seven hours straight. After a two hour break we shot the sequence for another seven hours. Even though the process was so exhausting, it looked very well done on the screen and the audience also liked it.”

After that incident he has performed the tandav multiple times for different shows. He is currently seen as Mahadev in Devi Aadi Parashakti on Dangal TV and had to perform the Tandav for the first time alongside his co-actor. He further added, “There was a sequence of Devi and Shiv performing tandav together and Rati (Pandey) was doing it for the first time. But she is a wonderful dancer and managed to learn it much faster than I did. The shot came out really well and our chemistry looked beautiful on the screen.”
