Tara From Satara Review: An Underdog's Tale Told Right!

Produced by Frames Production and Idearack Private Limited, the story of Tara From Satara revolves around a young girl Tara and her journey from being aimless to finding a purpose in life.

Tara From Satara

Sony TV is known for bringing refreshing tales and fresh content for the audiences. Ditching the trend of supernatural shows, Sony is embracing meaningful stories like Patiala Babes, Isharon Isharon Mein and the latest to join the bandwagon is Tara From Satara. Produced by Frames Production and Idearack Private Limited, the story revolves around a young girl Tara and her journey from being aimless to finding a purpose in life.

Tara loves dancing but is not as focused as her elder sister. She is carefree and fun-loving but will go on to become a great dancer with a purpose to fulfill her father’s dream. The concept of the show is fresh and so are the actors.

Here’s a small analysis of couple of episodes:

Plot:

The show starts with we being introduced to Tara and her middle-class family that consists of her mother, father, uncle, aunt, their son and a grandmother. From the first scene itself we know that Tara is a carefree girl who doesn’t care much about school , academics and is a fan of dancing. She loves to watch a dance reality show and is a big fan of one of it’s judges. On the other hand, her father, a Kathak dance teacher is strict towards his daughters and though he wants them to become good dancers, he doesn’t like western form of dancing and hence isn’t happy with Tara watching the show.

Tara is a fun-loving girl who is good at nothing, be it academics or dancing and her father is always concerned about her future. He likes his elder daughter Radhika as she is a topper and excels at everything. Though, everybody else including her mother and grandmother are supportive of Tara.

Performances:

Roshni Walia who plays the titular role has opted for a de-glam look for the first time and looks great for the part. She is supposed to be chirpy, happy and kiddish for her role and has done justice to her character. At some points it looks a little overdone but otherwise, great job. Upendra Limaye as Tara and Radhika’s father and dance teacher is the best amongst all. His craft is so strong, acting comes naturally to him. All the other supporting cast like grandmother (Amita Khopkar) and Radhika (Uravshi Pardeshi) and others seem to be fit for their role.

Screenplay and Direction:

The story is refreshing and lovely. The writing so far seems to be tight and we hope it continues to be like that. However, there is still a little scope of betterment in overall storytelling. It needs to be more engaging and apart from the central characters, other supporting characters also need to be developed.

Verdict:

It’s that feel-good show you would like to watch with your family over dinner. So far it doesn’t have any negativity, and Tara’s innocent smile will definitely bring a smile on your face. If you enjoy watching slice of life dramas, you can give it a try.

I am watching this show just for Upendra's acting, such a seasoned actor! Roshni is cute as Tara and the show has fresh feel.. Hope they continue on the same lines.
