The music industry was stunned and deeply saddened by the passing of legendary singer Asha Bhosle on April 12. Her final farewell took place on Monday, with many celebrities offering their last respects. In a recent interview with Zoom, singer Talat Aziz shared his last conversation with Asha Bhosle, revealing that she was singing even while unwell.

Talat, who shared a close bond with the late singer, recalled a warm conversation just days before her passing. He mentioned receiving a video call from Asha Bhosle three days before he left for Mauritius on April 3.

He said, "Maine pucha kaise hain aap? Toh unhone bola ki haan zara tabyat theek nahi hai aajkal. Bhut saari baatien ki purane logon ke barrien main, Lata ji ke barrien main. Unhone kaha, 'Ek kaam karo tum, jab vapas aaoge Mauritius se toh aake milna toh bethke baatein karenge.' Lekin takdeer main likha nahi tha. Main vapas aaya April 9-10 ko aur April 11 ko mujhe pata laga, she's not well."

(I asked her how she was doing, and she said, “Yes, my health hasn’t been too good these days.” We spoke a lot about old times and about the people from the past, including Lata ji. She said, “Do one thing, when you return from Mauritius, come and meet me and we’ll sit and talk.” But fate had other plans. I returned around April 9 or 10, and on April 11, I found out that she was unwell.)

Talat shared that on April 12, Anjula, Asha's daughter-in-law, told him about the singer's critical condition, and he soon learned of her passing. He reminisced about her youthful spirit, noting that she was not just 92, but 22 at heart. He described her as having an incredibly positive outlook on life. He recalled her singing on the phone, curious about how her voice sounded. He was amazed, telling her that despite feeling unwell, her notes were perfect.

(She was very young at heart; she was not 92, she was 22 in her heart. Her attitude towards life was very positive. She was literally singing on the phone and asking, “Tell me, how does my voice sound?” I said, “You are singing and saying your health is not well, yet you are perfectly in tune, it’s amazing.”)

The iconic Asha Bhosle, aged 92, passed away on April 12. She was hospitalized the previous day due to cardiac and respiratory complications and, sadly, succumbed to multiple organ failure on Sunday. Her passing sent shockwaves throughout the film and music industries. Her final ceremonies took place on Monday.
