Taapsee reasons her decision to do Judwaa 2, Says Wanted to break the Myth!

Taapsee is gradually making her way to the top and the actress has worked with some of the best actors and directors in the industry. Being mindful of her choices she has always looked towards the best. Over the years, Taapsee has managed to cleanse her choices in regards to good meaningful scripts.

The 32-year-old actress has carved a niche in parallel cinema and Taapsee’s step into commercial space with Judwaa 2 (2017) plucked the wrong strings. The film saw her in a glamorized avatar and it still tends to remain the most commercial flick she has ever done.  

The film was rather important for her as she reveals that she wanted to break the myth about her. She said, “When I did Judwaa 2, I didn’t only want to achieve a certain box office figure but also break the myth that a girl who works in unconventional films cannot be a mainstream actor.”

She also added that it was a much-needed step get out of her own shell and the perception people had made about her. She explains, “The stereotyping is out there to eat you. If I didn’t do Judwaa 2, people would’ve kept me aside saying that I’m can only play offbeat roles. I can do both now.”

Trying to maintain the balance between mainstream and content-driven cinema. “What has happened from Judwaa 2 to now is that the line between glamourised and content-driven films has blurred. I’m, in fact, doing a film this year which will be highly glamorized but it’ll have a very strong story and my character will also be very strong. I’m hoping that I can continue walking through this middle path in the future too,” she shares.

On the work front, Taapsee Pannu was last seen in the film Saand Ki Aankh. Currently, she has been working on her upcoming films - Thappad, Tadka and Rashmi Rocket.
