Surveen Chawla opens on shocking casting couch experience in South Film industry

Actor Surveen Chawla has been on the tube for the longest time where after making a mark on the small screen, Chawla has managed to garner a lot of accolades for an array of performances in multiple films and web shows.

All set to be a part of Decoupled that is up for release in the next couple of days, the actor recently opened up on a harrowing experience she had while working in the South Film industry in an interview with RJ Siddharth Kanan.

In the interview, she mentioned that the physical “parameters” should not define a woman’s calibre. The actor reflected back at the time when she was making a transition from television to films. It happened during her first film meeting in Mumbai. She said the experience made her doubt herself as her ‘appearance, weight and waist size, chest size’ was questioned.

Chawla also pointed out that these are not the right parameters that should define a woman. She also stressed that over the past few years now things have changed. It was earlier a difficult phase but now with changing times, people are coming out and are speaking openly about things like body shaming, mental health, and rejections.

It is indeed quite a journey for the actor now starring in one good project after the other. Decoupled on Netflix has Chawla starring in the lead role alongside R Madhavan where the romantic comedy is directed by Hardik Mehta.
