Actor Suhasi Dhami is a name all TV buffs know very well as she has been in some of the most longest-running shows on the small screen. She took a huge break before she made her comeback a few years ago with the Zee TV show, Aapke Aa Jane Se.

The show ran for a year and a half before going off-air in 2019. Now, it has been almost another three years since Dhami has been a part of any project. And hence, she is raring to get back on TV. Talking about it with ETimes TV, she mentioned how she took time off to take care of her son, Kabir, who was three then. She said, “Kabir is six and doesn’t need me to be around all the time. It’s an exciting phase for actors like me. Earlier, we would worry about being overshadowed by 18 and 20-year-olds and being past our prime. When I got pregnant, it seemed ab kya? I belong to a phase when we were advised to be tight-lipped about our marital status. For some years, I didn’t hold Jaisheel’s (her husband) hands while attending events. You come out of that bubble eventually. I am grateful that AKAJS came my way, which made me believe that roles can be written for us, too. I am grateful to the audience for accepting everybody. One needs to be patient.”

Talking about the fact that this was the second time she took a long break from acting, she said, “Actors shoot for long hours and are always pressed for time because of strict deadlines. Along the way, I missed out on a lot of things my son would do. I got back to work when my son was two. Once in two weeks on my off days, I would look at him in amazement ki ye kab seekh liya, ye kab ho gaya. Fortunately, I am in a position to make a choice of staying home and not taking up a project. The break also doesn’t let monotony set in.”

Concluding with talking about how it is difficult to lose out on promising projects, especially in the beginning of one's career. She then concluded saying that she is glad they can take breaks in between and she is lucky that she has made her return with an author-backed role every time.
