Stree: Ridiculously hilarious and thrilling experience!

The film is undoubtedly unique and extraordinary, a must watch as Bollywood has certainly come up with something 'NEW'...

Story: A small town known as 'Chanderi', is haunted by a strange woman known as 'Stree'. The unique fable, however, turns to be foretold since many decades. The strange spirit haunts the men from Chanderi during a festive pooja which is held for four days. As the mystery twists and tangles, Stree starts abducting men. Furthermore, the wonder boy and a talented tailor Vicky (Rajkumar Rao) falls in love with an uncanny girl (Shraddha Kapoor). The four days of festive pooja turn out to be just more than normal as supernatural and bizarre events take place in the small town.

Review: Myths, tradition, and superstition are social evils which haunt the educated society even today. 'Stree' speaks out to each and every member of the society or an individual. The way we portray ourselves in this society and what we represent is one of the best example that makes us think about our social structure and social problems. Social structure has been one of the major driving forces to blind the populace. Even we know women portrayed are in our society and how they are depicted. For a woman living in our society, it is hard time adjusting herself into our social structure. Without a doubt, a sex worker won't even be included in this structure. Well, this is the kind of society that we live in! 'Stree' certainly talks about such social evils and the loopholes from our tradition and folk tales which have been passed down to us from our ancestors.

Amar Kaushik's directorial 'Stree' is an astounding creation, written by Krishna D.K and Raj Nidimoru. Apart from the well-written material the film turns out to be a piece of art. Above all the filmmaker has discovered an all-new concept for Bollywood. With Bollywood yet to explore a lot, the industry yet has to dig down deep into the depths from mainstream genres to such interesting genres. With such an exceptional piece of writing the actors have given their best to deliver their punchlines spontaneously. Undoubtedly, humor only comes from the spontaneity of the actor. While the film divides itself in the genre of 'Horror/comedy' it isn't an easy job to merge the two!

The film has managed to steal the audience's attention. Moreover, the modern and traditional mix of costumes has been fabricated very well. The background score and the set tend to mesmerize you as the costumes blend quite well. However, the genre is yet to be explored, it makes the film, a one-time watch. Unlike other genres, it might not seem as amusing to watch the film over and over again as the essence of Horror/comedy lies in the spontaneity of the punch-line. But, since one has already watched the film; the punch-lines are predictable elements, which dry-out the film.

Although, the director did extremely well creating this piece, yet we revolve around the same boundaries that we have been experiencing for decades. No matter what Bollywood always tends to leave a mark on you!
