India's most celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s next titled ‘RRR’ is one of the most anticipated and awaited film in the coming time. The mega budgeted film stars a mighty star cast including Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt alongside Ram Charan and NTR Jr.
RRR was slated to release this year in October on the festive occasion of Dussehra, but due to the pandemic induced lockdown, cinema theatres are shut and the release has been postponed until further notice.
As several big banner films head to OTT for a direct to digital release, reports suggested that RRR will also have an OTT release. However, NTR Jr who plays Bheem in the film has quashed all such rumours and clarified that the makers will wait as long as it takes to release the film in theatres.
Speaking to Deadline, Jr NTR said:
“RRR was never considered for an OTT release. There are certain films that need to be enjoyed as a community on a large screen. Would you enjoy watching Baahubali or Jurassic Park or Avengers on OTT? No. We never thought about doing that, we were willing to wait for cinemas. We have a ray of hope, we know people will come back to watch films. India lives on movies. We take them very seriously as audiences. RRR is one such movie.”
Further, the actor added that RRR has the perfect story and cast to bring the audiences back to theatres after the second lockdown is lifted.
Speaking of RRR, the film is a period drama like never before, a fictional take on the younger days of celebrated freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju. While Jr. NTR plays Bheem, Alia Bhatt will be seen playing Sita in the film.
Produced by DVV Danayya, RRR is set to release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and several other India languages.
