Spider-Man divorces MCU to join Sony

Perhaps, Marvel Cinematic Universe’s head honcho Kevin Feige is ‘disappointed’ with the fallout between Sony and Marvel Studios (and Marvel's parent company Disney) which has landed Spider-Man outside of the creative control. Now, Sony Pictures has finally broken the silence. 

In an interaction with ComicBook.com, Sony said: “Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise, we are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live-action Spider-Man film.” 

Meanwhile, it has been equally hard for the fans to accept the fact that Feige will be unable to pull the strings in spider-verse. The fans have received another shocking blow as Sony’s comments fail to hint if Spider-Man would be a part of MCU, which is likely to stir-up a few problems in the Avengers storyline.

Furthermore, Sony appears to be removing Feige from the movie but lacking an intention of removing Spider-Man from Feige's Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue,” Sony addressed their new development in their statement. 

So far, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has appeared in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and his other standalone film from 2017 Spider-Man: Homecoming.

With this development, Tom Holland will no longer be seen in the MCU as Spider-Man. The future Avengers movies will no longer feature Peter Parker and crossovers with other MCU characters.
