Special Ops: Neeraj Pandey’s Spy Thriller is Full of Engaging Turns!

Created by Neeraj Pandey, Hostar special series Special Ops is an engaging spy-thriller that revolves around a 19-year-old manhunt. The series goes back to the 2001 parliament attacks and how it is linked with several other attacks including 26/11.

Plot: 

RAW head Himmat Singh ( portrayed by Kay Kay Menon) lands himself in an audit inquiry for spending 28 crs in the past 11 years from the middle east desk. Himmat is interrogated by two officers and through the interrogation, the viewers get introduced to his five secret agents working in different countries for the search of one man, Iklaq Khan. 

It traces back to the 2001 Parliament attack and Himmat Singh’s theory behind the entire attack. Himmat believes the attack was planned by not 5 but 6 terrorists and the sixth one is the mastermind behind the entire attack. The series showcases 6 deadly terror attacks and Himmat Singh along with his team are on a mission to find the one person behind all this. 

While the series showcases how the various attacks are linked to each other, the complex plot can be a bit confusing at certain places. The series also has a few moments of humor while managing to not take the seriousness out of the setting.  

The action sequence and the high production quality of the series will make it an interesting watch.  However, the series which started off to be an engaging and gripping plot turns a little tedious and stretched out in the middle. Towards the end, once again the curiosity will keep you at the edge of your seats. 

Performances: 

Kay Kay Menon’s phenomenal performance will be one of the highest points of the series. The audience can connect with his character of Himmat Singh, be it his role as an Intelligence officer or an overprotective father. 

Karan Tacker as Farooq Ali will slowly but very promisingly make you deeply connect with his character. Farooq, a student who was hired by Himmar Singh to join the secret services undergoes various difficulties and challenges but is extremely determined to complete his mission and find Iklaq Khan. 

Apart from this, Sana Khan as Sonya, Vinay Pathak as Abbas, Parmeet Sethi as Mr. Chadda, Vipul Gupta as Bala, Saiyami Kher as Juhi, Meher Vij as Ruhani, Muzamil Ibrahim as Avinash and Divya Dutta as Sadia perform their respective roles very convincingly. 

Verdict: The series can surely be added to your list.
