South Asian girls sizzle in Desiclub's swimsuit calendar 2008

New York, Dec 31 (IANS) Ten Indian American models, including last year's Miss India America, sizzle in Desiclub.com's Swimsuit Calendar 2008 released recently.

In perhaps the only calendar outside India showcasing South Asian girls, the swimsuit calendar, now in its second year, also features two models of Pakistani and Caribbean origin.

The cover girl is Melanie Kannokada, Miss India America 2007 - a Stanford University graduate. She hosts a couple of shows on Sahara One channel and is in talks for film roles.

Other beauty-plus-brains girls who posed for the calendar include an up and coming architect (Bhumika Vyas), a 4.0 grade average college student (Bansari Shah) and a programmer (Pamela Soggu).

The pictures for the calendar were shot on the exclusive beaches of Hamptons in Long Island, New York.

Desiclub.com put up all the models and the crew in a beach house and recorded all the fun and drama, to be turned into a reality TV show.

'The first print run of the calendar is 40,000,' Saroosh Gull, Desiclub.com's founder and CEO told IANS.

Priced at $12.95, the calendar is available mainly through online orders.

'Last year our first calendar generated tremendous response.

'But no, I had not seen Kingfisher's swimsuit calendar before launching ours, let alone getting inspired by it,' Gull said in answer to a question.

Desiclub.com offers event information, online ticketing, a classifieds portal, an online shop and other services. Desiclub Inc was set up 10 years ago with its office in Westchester, New York and targets primary markets in the US, Canada, the UK and India.
