Sonu Sood to accompany India's contingent to 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games

Tokyo Olympics is still going on and continues to be the talk-of-the-town. While India only has one silver medal so far, we do have another confirmed medal right now which can be improved soon. While India's fate at the on-going Olympics is still an on-going occurrence, major news recently came pertaining to the Special Olympics and India's contingent yesterday.

Actor Sonu Sood, who has been a humanitarian and the same has been on display since the pandemic will not just be the brand ambassador of India's Special Olympics contingent but will in fact, accompany them to the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Russia next year. Making the announcement in a virtual interaction with several special athletes and officials from Special Olympics Bharat, the actor said, "Today is a very special day for me and I am delighted to join this journey of inclusion with Special Olympics Bharat. I feel privileged to join the family and vouch to make this platform even bigger and resonate with people all over the country."

Sood interacted with special athletes, responding to their queries while admiring and appreciating their sporting achievements. The athletes also introduced him to the #WalkForInclusion, an initiative of the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Region. In his role as the brand ambassador for Special Olympics Bharat, Sonu will lead the team of India's special athletes to Russia's Kazan in January, where they will represent the country in the prestigious World Winter Games. "I feel honoured to have this opportunity to be with our team in Russia for the Special Olympics World Winter Games. I will encourage our athletes to give their best and cheer them on with such enthusiasm that the roar of support will echo back home in India as well," he concluded.

The Winter Games – will be held in Kazan, Russia from January 22-28, 2022.
