Sonakshi Sinha: We talk endlessly about cutting out discrimination, why leave out body size and weight

From just establishing their positions in a man's universe to comprehending their own identities, weaknesses, and imperfections, speaking up for what they believe, women are taking a leap forward. The way women's tales are depicted has changed dramatically. 

At a time like this, two actors, Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha, have teamed up to star in a project that uses humour to place body and weight-shaming into focus. The film's teaser was released a few months ago.

"It hit home so strongly when the script arrived to both of us," Sonakshi shared while talking about it in a recent interview. She also mentioned that Huma was the only person she would have worked with on that project. It's critical to both of them. 

She further expressed that body and weight shaming have plagued both of their lives for years. It has happened to them since the onset of their careers in this field, and it continues to happen and that it hasn't slowed down. She adds how people are continually discussing your size, regardless of your size, which she believes is now bordering on the pointless.

She added, people talk a lot about ending discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, and colour. Further, she questioned why not include physical measurements and weight? She feels size should be added to the list of things for which we should not be judged and it was critical to make a film like this that highlights the story of two ladies who are skilled and believe in living life on their own terms.

For the unversed, during the lockdown, Mudassar Aziz entered into the room and discovered Huma and Sonakshi eating their food. That image made him wonder if it was time to write a story based on the women's encounters with trolls, who have frequently humiliated them for their size.
