Sneha Wagh on Women's Day 2022: The portrayal of women has changed and it’s a positive change

International Women's Day 2022 falls on March 8. The day is meant for exclusively celebrating women and their achievements. But actress Sneha Wagh believes that one day is not enough to commemorate women and everything that they have pulled off. "Women should be celebrated every day. I think just having one day as Women’s Day is not enough. It should be a very normal thing about being celebrated as in being respected and being given equal chances," says Sneha. 

Question her on what her take is on the portrayal of women in the society, the actress replies, "Women’s portrayal has changed over the past few years. Initially, they were only seen in the society as homemakers. But now they are making a mark all over the world, they are ambitious, they are everywhere. So yes, the portrayal has changed and it’s a good positive change."

Talking about women and perceptions surrounding them that she wants changed, Sneha had a very valid poin to make. "So there is this statement - Be afraid of a woman who is not afraid of the world. I want to change the perception of that statement. Why are we supposed to be scared of women who are not scared of the world? When a woman is independent and is standing on her own two feet, she has the right to create her own world. So let her be. In our country, women have been suppressed since a very very long time. So if today’s woman is standing on her own feet, I think it’s a big achievement."

Giving out a message to all the women out there, Sneha says, "Do what your heart says. Stop living in the pressure of making other people proud. First make yourself proud of what you are doing, be proud of your achievements, your accomplishments and do what make you feel great and amazing and an achiever in every possible sense."
