Female friends are very important for every woman. You are lucky if you have girl friends around. Actress Sonya Saamoor, who grew up thinking that male friends are better than females, now believes that it's important to have female friends around. Sonya is currently seen in the television show Sirf Tum and plays the role of 'Riya,' the parallel lead.

Talking about her take on female friends, the actress says,

"I grew up thinking that women are bitter and it’s better to have male friends than have girls around. I used to think that two women could never friends. In the teenage years everyone’s naïve and making mistakes, and you cannot form an opinion on the basis of that and live the rest of your life avoiding women, that’s toxic and you need to heal from the trauma that caused you to form these opinions."

Speaking about the importance of having female friends, Sonya says,

"Growing up in different countries, I met women from different ethnicities and realised I was so wrong. There are good and bad people in every gender. I now feel like I need my girlfriends more than my guy friends. I can share my problems, thoughts, feelings, and triumphs with them. We are each other’s biggest supporters and not competitors, I treasure my hour-long phone conversations, lunches and night outs with them. From hilarious text messages to weekend trips with my girls, I have come a long way in terms of my childhood perspective."

She further adds,

"I believe women are kinder and the ups and downs in life changes everyone. People change, they evolve and become better humans. My girlfriends are the first ones to come to my rescue. I’m lucky to find like minded girls, they only add more positivity to my life, women who think like my former self should themselves become empowering of other women and witness the change that follows."

Sonya has a lot of ‘Girl’ friends and we can clearly see that through her social media. Recently, she shared glimpses of her chilling session with her popular girl gang Erica Fernandes and Shubhaavi Choksey. Sonya also shares a lovely bond with her co-star Eisha Singh.
