Shaukat Kaifi’s Prayer Meet: From Asha Parekh to Anil Kapoor, Bollywood comes Together to Pay Tribute

Last Friday, Bollywood received the sad news of Shabana Azmi’s mother Shaukat Kaifi’s demise, who left for heavenly abode at the age of 93. Reportedly, she suffered a cardiac arrest and breathed her last on Friday night.

In order to pay the last respects, a prayer meeting was held in her memory on Tuesday, wherein Bollywood came together to pay tribute to the veteran actress.

Organized by Shabana Azmi and her husband Javed Akhtar, the prayer meet included family members-Baba Azmi, Tanvi Azmi and their children, and Tabu.

While the family mourns over this unfortunate loss, B Town friends and family came together to offer their condolences and support. Actors like Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Kajol, Urmila Matondkar, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Saiyami Kher, Satish Kaushik, Mita Vashisht, Ashutosh and Sunita Gowariker, Madhur Bhandarkar, Vijay Krishna Acharya, Jayantilal Gada, Avtar Gill, Ila Arun, Kanwaljit Singh, Anuradha Patel and Sandip Soparrkar attended the prayer meet.

Besides, the prayer meeting also saw Jeetendra, David Dhawan, Rakesh Roshan, Neena Gupta, Tisca Chopra, Sandhya Mridul, Boney Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, Seema Seema Pahwa, Poonam Dhillon, Nandita Das, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anup Soni, Juhi Babbar, Anup Jalota, Javed Jaffrey and Sophie Choudry in attendance, who came to offer their last respects.

Shaukat Azmi, was an Indian theater and film actress, who worked in Muzaffar Ali's "Umrao Jaan" (1981), Sagar Sarhadi's "Bazaar" (1982) and Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay! (1988) among other films. 

It is indeed a great loss for all of us and we pray her soul rests in peace.
