Sailing successfully through the storm, Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019 with a total collection of more than Rs 270 crore net. The action drama, which was a Hindi remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy made a lot of noise before as well as after it’s release. While the lead actors were lauded for their impressive performances in the film, it was equally slammed for his misogynistic nature portrayed in the film, as claimed. The Sandeep Vanga directorial was brutally criticized for glorifying toxic masculinity in the film and the director too was bashed for his comments.
Kabir Singh undoubtedly faced a turn of controversies and various Bollywood celebrities were of mixed opinions regarding the film. While filmmaker Karan Johar appreciated the film and Shahid- Kiara's performance, actors like Kubbra Sait, Taapsee Pannu among others deprecated the film. A few days back, Vidya Balan too had opened up on Kiara’s performance in the film.

Now, in a recent interview, filmmaker Farah Khan has voiced her opinions on the vexed film. She began by saying that every person with a phone these days is a critic as random people give their own analysis about how the film was shot or how the direction was.
Besides, she also feels that the film Kabir Singh may fail to bag awards at award functions owing to the colossal criticism the film faced. “ Like I was talking to Shahid Kapoor. His film Kabir Singh has done so well. But because it got criticized so badly, I just feel that if he is going to win some award for it, then the organizers might have second thoughts looking at the barrage of criticism that the film got”, Farah told Bollywood Hungama.
On being asked whether all the criticism really matters, Farah said that it does matter to the one who made the movie. She said that when a film receives harsh reviews, people are not willing to see the business of the film and can affect the person who made the film.
