The Coronavirus pandemic has disrupted normal everyday life. Right from nationwide lockdown to the rapidly increasing number of cases, the situation seems to be going out of hand with each passing day. Various sectors of business, events, entertainment are to be highly affected by this novel virus, and in turn, lead to a tremendous financial crisis.
Amidst the ongoing COVID-19, Bollywood celebrities are stepping forward to create awareness and help daily wage workers in every possible way. Actor Shahid Kapoor has extended a helping hand to the Bollywood dancers who are hit by the lockdown and left with no source of income to survive.
Shahid, who started as a background dancer in the industry has come to the rescue of the dancers from ‘Ishq Vishq’, ‘Shaandaar’ and others who have been by his side and transferred money straight into their bank accounts.
Raj Surani, a former background dancer who now helps dancers connect with filmmakers, told Times of India, “Shahid Kapoor recently transferred money to the bank accounts of dancers he has worked. He has extended support to around 40 dancers and has stated that he will help them for the next 2-3 months.”
Raj adds: “We shortlisted dancers from the days when he started his career with ‘Ishq Vishq’. It has been 17 years and they are in a bad condition, they may not be working right now. Apart from them we have even included those dancers who worked with him in ‘Dhating Naach’, ‘Shaandaar’ and ‘Agal Bagal’.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shahid Kapoor will be next seen in Jersey, a remake of the 2019 Telugu-language film under the same title.
