Shabir Ahluwalia has been a part of Kumkum Bhagya for seven long years and he did become synonymous to playing Abhi on the show. While the actor did decide to move on to a different show, he surely will be remembered for his role in Kumkum Bhagya for the longest time.

The actor spoke about moving on to a new show and mentioned how it is never easy because it becomes a habit more than anything else and one misses the people that they have worked with on an every day basis, spending a large chunk of their life with them. the actor mentioned how he has a great bond with Sriti Jha and Arjit Taneja and parting is never easy, but well, the show must go on.

In addition, he also spoke about how he was seen playing the father to grown-ups in the show and if he had apprehensions about playing the same. He told TOI,

“Every actor has certain apprehensions. KB was essentially a love story, which ran its course after a point. Now, it is not easy to run a daily soap for so long and the only way forward is to show what comes next in a lead couple’s life. So, it is obvious that their kids will grow up, who will take the story forward. That’s only logical and that’s how a show progresses with the next generation taking over. It also infuses newness into the story. I have been in the industry for long enough to understand that progression is important.''

Further, he mentioned how for him, its about the character and they knew that it would happen eventually. However, he said that he is starting with a clean slate and what happened to the last show are memories and that's how an actor is supposed to treat his craft. He also spoke about the new show, called Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan. He mentioned how the initial shoot will happen in Vrindavan as it is impossible to get the same vibe anywhere else and they will then return to Mumbai.

Lastly, the actor also spoke about returning to films after having been a part of Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007) and Mission Istaanbul (2008). He went on to say how it is about the story and not about the medium. He concluded by saying people who appreciate his work understand and know it and as long as he gets to be a part of a good story, the medium doesn’t matter.
