Bangalore, April 21 (IANS) Screening of Tamil films resumed in Karnataka after over two weeks of blockade in the wake of a water row between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
More than 20 of the 100-odd theatres in Bangalore screen Tamil films in view of the large Tamil population in the city.
'Santhosh Subramaniam' featuring Jeyam Ravi and Genelia has been released in a few theatres in Bangalore last weekend to a lukewarm response. The film has turned out to be a big hit in Tamil Nadu, but has failed to get a good response here. Trade pundits say one reason may be that it is a remake of Telugu film 'Bommarillu', which had a successful run in Bangalore two years ago.
The resumption of screening has been on a low key without any advertisements in newspapers or on TV channels. There are no huge posters at the theatres either, apparently not to arouse protests again by pro-Kannada activists.
