Sara Ali Khan- Varun Dhawan starrer Coolie No. 1 gets Johnny Lever on board!

The Govinda-Karisma Kapoor starrer Coolie No. 1 is a 1995 comedy classic. The iconic film will be remade by director David Dhawan, and the lead cast of the film has also been finalised. Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan are locked as the leading pair for the remake of the film. Ever since the remake went on floors, there has been a lot of buzz around the adaptation of this comedy flick.

Recently, Paresh Rawal has also been roped in to play the role of Kader Khan, in the film. He will be seen as Sara’s father in the remake. And now the latest reports comedy king Johnny Lever has also joined the cast of Coolie No. 1. He will essay the role of the police officer from the original, which was essayed by Tiku Talsania.

In a conversation with Mumbai MIrror, Johnny stated his excitement to work with VD and revealed, “I’ve worked with David in many films, including Deewana Mastana, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge and Judwaa 2. It’s great to team up with him again, he has a good understanding of comedy and we have been in sync since the ’90s. It’s a wonderful role.” 

While the Varun-Sara starrer Coolie No. 1 remake is yet to get a title, the film is expected to go on floors on August 5 in Bangkok. In accordance to the remake, certain interesting reports have been surfacing the Internet, which have made the fans excited! 

The makers have decided to recreate one of the iconic tracks from Coolie No. 1 for the remake, which is Mein Toh Raste Se Ja Raha Tha. Also, not just the song but, the makers of the film will be recreating the famous Mumbai VT station in London where the film will be shot partially.

A few months back, Varun had taken to his social media handle to announce the official remake of the film. He wrote, "Aaj ka Din, Agle Saal Aega Coolie No.1 - Hoga Kamaal !!! Coolie No.1 releases on May 1, 2020 #DavidDhawan #SaraAliKhan @vashubhagnani @poojafilms #1YearForCoolieNo1 #LabourDay"

The film is set to hit the screens on May 1, 2020.
