Sara Ali Khan Proves she’s a Queen of Witty Responses

Sara Ali Khan turns a year old as she celebrates her twenty-fourth birthday today, August 12. While the actress is just two films old she has already carved a niche for herself in the showbiz. Not only has she garnered accolades for her stellar performances from the critics and audience equally, but has also managed to win everyone’s heart with her wittiness and her classy replies to controversial questions dodged at her.

The young diva has been always applauded for the confidence and for being her true self. Soon after debut on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan, Sara was touted as ‘Bollywood’s New Volcano’ for fearlessly speaking her mind and sticking to her words. Netizens also predicted a bright future for Sara and shared that “She is the kind of Nepotism we deserve”, soon after the episode was aired.

As this charming Pataudi girl turns 24 today, here’s a look at those situations when she was surrounded by controversial and dumb questions, and yet she managed to own them like a Boss with her witty replies!

When she took the Nepotism Debate Heads-On:

Initially, when Sara giving interviews for her debut film, she was always targeted with questions revolving around “nepotism”. During her interview with BBC Asian Network, she accepted that nepotism exists and she cannot run away from it.

"This(Nepotism) has become a conversation back home recently more than it was, this word nepotism a lot of people talk about and I don't think I can run away from that. I think it will be hypocritical and wrong for me to say that it doesn't exist,” said Sara.

Talking about the advantages one has being a celebrity kid, Sara exclaimed, "There are perks of being an insider. The main perk is access. I could go to Rohit sir's office and say, sir, would you please consider me for Simmba. That's a privilege. So the access that my parents have worked so hard to enable me to have is not something I can deny or something that I can run away from.”

Speaking about Nepotism to Harper's Bazaar India, Sara opened up and said, "The most negative connotation of nepotism is that people find an unfair, unearned, invalid, unnecessary advantage to somebody born in a family of actors."

The young actress added that she has proved that she has mettle. "From what I see, I’ve done my bit to prove that I may have what it takes. And I’ve managed, somewhat successfully, to disassociate from that word. If you can be appreciated for your work then none of this matters. I am immensely proud and grateful that I am their daughter, but I am on my way to establish an identity wherein there’s more to me. And this is just the beginning. I have a long, long, long way to go."

When she boldly revealed that Comparisons between actors is healthy:

During one such interview with Filmfare, Sara was told that Janhvi finds her stunning and further she was quizzed about the comparisons between the two.

To this, she gave a classy reply, she said, “She’s stunning as well. This whole thing (rivalry) about Janhvi and me is so funny. We’re both extremely comfortable and confident in our skin. The first five times people made collages of us on Instagram asking ‘who’s better?’ we sent it to each other. Now we don’t because it happens every week. But seriously, the industry is huge and has place for everyone. You’ve got to be comfortable in your skin and respect the other’s job as well. I respect hers, she respects mine and at the risk of speaking for her, we respect even those people who make those collages. Their money also depends on it. Do it, we don’t mind. Some days she’ll look better, some days I’ll look better. It’s all good.”

When Sara put records straight about her equation with her Stepmom and actress Kareena Kapoor Khan:

During an interview, she said, “As far as our personal equation is concerned, I was clear from the beginning that anyone who makes my father happy – not specifically Kareena – makes me happy. Anyone, he loves, I love. I don’t need to know who that person is. It’s about my father.

Having said that, Kareena and I became friends and have a healthy equation regardless of the fact that we’ve conducted ourselves with dignity. It’s also easy for me to love and accept Kareena because I have a mom, who makes me feel everything’s fine. She got me ready for my father’s wedding with Kareena. So when you have a mother saying, ‘Yeh earrings mat peheno, doosri chandbali peheno’... and if that’s the vibe at home, then you’re comfortable enough to take anything on.”

When Sara was at her Wittiest Best:

In an interview with Bombay Times, Sara Ali Khan was made to play the most Googled question about her. One of the question’s asked was the following: “Who is Sara Ali Khan’s father?” Known for her wit and candor, Sara instantly replied: “Mahatma Gandhi.” Of course she meant it as a joke at first as she followed up saying: “Sorry that’s not funny, Saif Ali Khan is my father.”

While another question was about if she was a Princess to which Sara had yet another witty response. “No, because that is anachronistic and monarchy ended a long time ago. She’s a regular chick from Juhu,” the had actress said.

In one of her latest interviews for the show called, Famously Filmfare, Sara was asked if she would slap her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan if she was offered Rs. 1 Crore to do so. Given her sense of humour, she gave a hilarious reply, without batting an eyelid, she said, “I would slap him even for Rs 1 lakh."
