Sanjay Gupta slams Naga Vamsi as 'obnoxious guy' after his comments to Boney Kapoor go viral

The Bollywood Vs South debate has been reignited once again courtesy Naga Vamsi and Boney Kapoor. the two were part of the producers’ roundtable organized by Galatta Plus. Boney Kapoor was discussing how South Indian movies have their own unique markets in overseas. We know that North America is a huge market for Telugu movies, there is demand for Tamil films in Malaysia and Singapore. He said that the Middle East market is more cosmopolitan. Naga Vamsi said that Gulf is huge for Malayalam movies. His last release was Lucky Bhaskar that starred Dulquer Salmaan.

Then, Naga Vamsi told Boney Kapoor, “One thing, sir, you have to accept this. It might sound really harsh. We, South Indians, have changed the way you [Bollywood] look at cinema. Because, you guys [Bollywood], were stuck in making films for Bandra and Juhu. You witnessed a change with Baahubali, RRR, Animal and Jawan.”

Boney Kapoor did not agree with Naga Vamsi. The producer from South India said that Boney Kapoor could hardly take names of ‘historical’ Hindi films. Boney Kapoor said that he knew names of all Hindi films that were blockbusters but said the forum was not to show-off knowledge. He further said, “At the tip of my fingers, I can rattle out those names. But, it's nothing like Telugu cinema has taught Indians. I don't believe that. It was always there. Even the hero (Allu Arjun) of Pushpa 2 said that he is a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan. He could have said that he was a big fan of NT Rama Rao." While Naga Vamsi listed a number of pan-India movies that did huge business in Hindi, Boney Kapoor listed huge Hindi films.

Sanjay Gupta has lashed out against Naga Vamsi for his disrespectful and obnoxious attitude towards Boney Kapoor. He said that if there was one thing to learn from South makers it would be respect and humility. He also said that Bollywood filmmakers were not narrow-minded to lose sleep over the success of South Indian movies.
