The teaser clip and Ranbir's glimpse as Rama went viral, but filmmaker Sanjay Gupta's tweet "KHODA PAHAAD... NIKLA CHUHA" sparked curiosity. Many speculated it was a comment on Ramayana, but Sanjay Gupta denied the rumors, stating to HT "No, not at all. I don’t want to comment on it and it’s not regarding Ramayana".

Sanjay had also tweeted, "VFX companies don't make magic, technicians do," likely referencing DNEG, Ramayana's VFX partner, which won an Oscar for Dune: Part Two.

About the teaser

The teaser was released on Hanuman Jayanti, introducing Ranbir Kapoor as Maryada Purushottama Lord Rama. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, also features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.

The Ramayana makers have unveiled 'Rama,' a teaser introducing one of the most iconic figures in storytelling. Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Lord Rama appears to be a perfect match, captivating audiences with his powerful and dedicated presence. His eyes reflect justice, and he embodies the dignity and morals of the character, leading many to believe he's done his best to get into the skin of the character.

The teaser concludes with a brief view of Ravana. Although his face remains unseen, the quick appearance of Yash has greatly excited fans.

About Ramayana

In the film, Ranbir Kapoor portrays Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi embodies Goddess Sita. Yash, renowned for his role in KGF, will be seen as Ravana. Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey are cast as Hanuman and Lakshman, respectively.

Additionally, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be portraying Mandodri and Surpanakha. The project also features Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan.

The initial installment, Ramayana Part I, is scheduled for theatrical release this Diwali, with the subsequent chapter slated for Diwali 2027.
