Actor Sanjay Dutt appeared before the National Commission for Women on April 27 following objections to the song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” from his upcoming film KD The Devil. The hearing was held after concerns were raised over alleged obscenity in the track.

During the proceedings, Sanjay Dutt issued an apology and clarified his position. As per submissions noted during the hearing, he stated that he had no involvement in the song’s lyrics, composition, translation or final presentation. He maintained that his role was limited to performing as an actor under contractual obligations and that he was not aware of the specific wording at the time of recording.

The actor appeared with his legal team led by Advocate Hemant Shah and expressed respect for the dignity of women and social values. He also assured the Commission that he would exercise greater caution in future projects to avoid any content that could be seen as disrespectful.

As part of his response, Dutt made a voluntary commitment to support the education of 50 girls from tribal communities in Nagpur for the upcoming academic year. He further assured that compliance details would be submitted within three months, as discussed during the interaction.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Advocate Hemant Shah said, “Sanjay Dutt today appeared before the National Commission for Women and out of his utmost regard for women and for the Commission, he said that he was not aware of the wordings. But still, without prejudice, he has offered an apology, and he has also voluntarily offered to sponsor education for 50 children from the tribal community. He said when it was recorded, it was recorded in some other language.”

The actor was later seen leaving the Commission premises after cooperating with the inquiry.

The controversy around the song began after its release, with several users raising concerns over its lyrics and visuals. The issue escalated when authorities confirmed that the Hindi version had been removed from YouTube following the backlash.

The track is adapted from the Kannada song “Sarse Ninna,” which is part of the same film. Directed by Prem, the project also stars Dhruv Sarja and is scheduled for release on April 30.
