Salman Khan’s Dabangg to Turn into Animation Series, Confirms Arbaaz Khan

The superhit cop series, Dabangg was a big success at the box office and Salman Khan’s character as ‘Chulbul Pandey’ is a crowd favourite. Owing to the massive success of the Dabangg series, the makers have decided to turn the franchise into an animation series.

Yes, you heard that right! Leading India- and Singapore-based animation studio Cosmos-Maya has signed a deal with Arbaaz Khan Productions to adapt its blockbuster Bollywood cop movie franchise Dabangg into an animated series.

Reportedly, the series will chronicle the life and capers of supercop Chulbul Pandey (played by Salman Khan in the films), and will also feature the animated avatars of all popular characters of the franchise including Chhedi Singh (played by Sonu Sood in the films), Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha) and Prajapatiji (played by the late Vinod Khanna).

Targeted at a kids and family audience, Cosmos-Maya is producing two seasons of 52 half hours. The season one will be produced this year with season two in production in 2021.

Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan and producer of the Dabangg series confirmed the news and said:

“Dabangg’s biggest USP is that it is a complete family entertainer and, thus, the next logical step to further grow the franchise was to enter the animation space. The medium offers unparalleled creative freedom with storytelling, and we can focus on shorter standalone stories in lieu of longer, linear narratives. Chulbul’s persona is larger than life and in animation his adventures will be showcased as never seen before.”
