Salman Khan's appeal against a Mumbai court decision rejecting to grant him interim relief in a defamation action he filed against his Panvel farmhouse neighbour Ketan Kakkar has been heard by the Bombay High Court, which has reserved its decision.

Sessions Court had earlier refused to pass a restraining order against his neighbour Ketan Kakkar's post which Salman moved the Bombay High Court. On Tuesday, the High Court, after hearing the matter, reserved its order.

In August this year, Salman filed an appeal in the Bombay High Court against the Sessions Court's earlier order which refused to pass a restraining order against his Panvel farmhouse neighbour NRI Ketan Kakkar.

Salman in his petition to the High Court claimed that Ketan had made multiple defamatory postings against him on social media. He continued by saying that Ketan's statements are not only slanderous and disparaging of him, but also biased towards him and the community as a whole.

In a previous defamation case brought by Salman due to the former's social media remarks, the Sessions Court declined to issue an injunction order against Ketan in March. The verdict of Sessions Court Judge AH Laddhad was pronounced on March 23, the detailed order of which came later.

Salman, in his complaint, contended that, in fact, the defendants are inciting communal violence and Hindu-Muslim hatred by making provocative, baseless and false statements based on religion, which are absolutely irrelevant and absurd.
