Actor Sai Tamhankar is now an iconic name in the Marathi entertainment industry for almost a decade now - having starred in an array of films and TV shows as well. But she went to make her Hindi film debut back in 2008 with Black & White which went unnoticed. It was only her role in Hunterr almost five years later that brought her into focus. Now all set to star in Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi starrer Mimi, she recently opened up on being typecast owing to her role in Hunterr and being offered only such roles in an interview with SpotboyE.

She said, “I think I am very scared of getting typecast. After Hunterr, I got a lot of roles and almost 90 percent of them were of sexually depressed women. So, I get scared of getting stereotyped and that’s why there is so much gap and that’s why I am very cautious while choosing the subject and character.”

On having to start from scratch in Hindi films inspite of being a massive name in Marathi cinema, she said, “I won’t deny that it is a little bit difficult as you are used to calling the shots. But at the end of the day, work is work. When an actor gets a chance to leave all their baggage behind and go on a new set with a clean slate, I think it is a very good approach to have. It fills your heart with so much joy and satisfaction and that is very important for me."
