Rowdy Rathore 2: Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali to collaborate for new film? Here's what we know

Rowdy Rathore fans have been wondering when Sanjay Leela Bhansali will make a sequel to the 2012 blockbuster. Akshay Kumar starred in the old film directed by Prabhudheva. There were numerous reports that one of the new actors Tiger Shroff, Sidharth Malhotra or Shahid Kapoor might be the new hero of the entertainer. As per a report in Pinkvilla, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has signed a top Kannada director, Prem, for developing the script and story of Rowdy Rathore 2. He is one of the top filmmakers of the Kannada industry. The core plot of the movie has been finalised some days back.

A source told Pinkvilla, “The basic idea of Rowdy Rathore 2 has been in place for the longest time, and SLB was looking to partner with right forces to developing a banger of a sequel to this 2012 blockbuster. His thoughts have aligned with Prem and the duo is working towards developing the script of Rowdy Rathore 2.” The team is now working hard on the screenplay of Rowdy Rathore 2. The first movie was a blockbuster with superhit songs.

The source said that Prem will dive deeply into the pre-production of Rowdy Rathore 2 after the release of KD – The Devil. The film is supposed to take off by the end of 2025. Once, these aspects are finalized, the casting for Rowdy Rathore 2 will begin. The source added, “Right now, the energies are being invested to develop a script that does justice to the legacy of first part.”

Fans of Akshay Kumar are keen to know if he will make a return as the action-packed cop in the movie. The source said the cast will be unveiled by 2025. As of now, fans would have to wait. It could be Akshay or a new one or a combination of new star with the original superstar.
