In a fresh development in the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested the 15th accused in the case. The arrest was carried out in Agra through a joint operation with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force.

The accused has been identified as Pradeep Kumar, also known as Gaath. According to officials, he is linked to the Shubham Lonkar gang and is believed to have played the role of a shooter in the incident. Police confirmed that he was picked up from the Chhadami Mattha area on the Agra Etah road under Bah police station limits at around 3.56 pm.

Investigators said the arrest followed coordinated technical inputs and intelligence sharing between teams in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. “The arrest was the result of technical analysis and intelligence sharing between the Mumbai crime branch and the Uttar Pradesh STF,” an official statement noted.

The firing incident took place on the night of February 1, 2026, outside Shetty Tower in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Officials suspect that the attack was planned by the Lonkar gang to create fear and allegedly extort money from individuals connected to the film industry.

Further details from the probe indicate that another accused, Golu Pandit, had allegedly arranged funds for the operation through an illegal hawala network. The money trail is said to have moved through Nepal, Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh before reaching those involved in executing the plan.

Police sources added that Pradeep Kumar is a resident of Ashok Nagar in Agra and was influenced by the gang’s presence on social media platforms. During questioning, he reportedly admitted that he took part in the crime along with associates Sunny, Deepu and Sonu in an attempt to establish “dominance.”

So far, multiple arrests have been made in the case, including individuals identified as Golu, Deepak and Vishnu Kushwaha. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act, Maharashtra Police Act and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.

After his arrest, Pradeep Kumar was handed over to the Mumbai Police. He will be brought to the city on transit remand for further investigation and legal proceedings.
