In the last few years, Bollywood has seen a number of Biopics that have been made to celebrate and honor various eminent personalities. Amongst the huge list, historical period dramas have been emerging quite a lot and a bunch of biopics are being made on historical leaders.
Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan are coming together after a decade for the biopic of Maratha warrior Tanhaji Malusare in Om Raut’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which also stars Kajol, Jagapathi Babu and Sharad Kelkar in the lead roles. It marks the 100th film of Ajay and will feature him as Tanaji Malusare, the military leader of King Shivaji and founder of the Maratha Empire.
During the recent promotions of his upcoming film, Ajay was asked who would he like to see play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj if a biopic were to be made on the Maratha ruler. To which, the actor took no time to take Riteish Deshmukh’s name. He further revealed that Riteish is already doing the biopic.
“I think right now Riteish is doing it and he will do it perfectly,” Ajay said. When Kajol asked if he is doing the film, he replied saying, “He is making it.” However, he did not get into the details of the movie.
While Riteish has not made a formal announcement of the film, reportedly his wife Genelia Deshmukh will be bankrolling the film. Well, if that’s the case, we cannot wait to see the Housefull 4 actor turn into the Maratha leader as we are sure he will completely ace it!
Meanwhile, speaking of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, the historical period drama stars Sharad Kelkar as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Luke Kenny as Emperor Aurangzeb and Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist Udaybhan Singh. The film will be clashing with Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak on January 10, 2020.
