Rishi Kapoor’s Sexist Joke gets a Befitting Reply by Shoojit Sircar

Rishi Kapoor is an avid social media user. The veteran actor often shares his views on Twitter, that many a times spark a debate online. Currently, while the entire nation is dreaded about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Kapoor took to the microblogging site to share a tweet, which has been labelled as ‘sexist’ by angry netizens.

Rishi Kapoor shared a bizarre picture of a man with a text that read: “5 days at home listening to the wife”. “On a lighter note! Side effects of the Coronavirus”, he wrote alongside the post.

While his tweet was intended only for humour, it did not go down well with the Twitteratris, who took no time to slam the actor. However, it was not just the netizens who were offended with Rishi’s ‘sexist joke’, Piku director Shoojit Sircar too seems to be miffed with the post. 

Replying to Rishi Kapoor’s tweet, Shoojit wrote: “Ya just 5 days.. woman /wife’s/mothers have been locked down since generations serving the family.” The filmmaker’s comment is being lauded on the Internet while Kapoor faces the wrath of social media trolls.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus outburst has led to a complete shutdown of various states all across the globe. The number of cases worldwide is reported to be 378, 414, with over 499 cases in India.
