Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor’s two-year-long battle finally ended today, after he breathed his last on Thursday. His untimely demise on Thursday morning, a day after he was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai, has shocked and saddened the country.

The Kapoor family announced his sad demise with an official statement asking his fans that he’d want to be remembered with a smile, and not with a tear.

Yet struck by the sad demise of their beloved actor, Rishi Kapoor’s fans cry their heart out.

Several Bollywood celebrities have been sharing their condolences on social media and Amitabh Bachchan was one of the first few who Tweeted about the same. He said that he was ‘destroyed’ when he heard that Rishi was no more.

Condolences began pouring in from Bollywood celebrities, including Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Madhuri Dixit. Fans, too, mourned the loss. “I don’t know....This 2020 will unfold How many sorrows... RIP #RishiKapoor He was very natural whether it’s Real or Reel. Jai Hind #OmShanti,” one fan tweeted.

In 2018, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer for the first time, following which the actor was in New York for nearly a year to undergo treatment. He returned to India in September 2019 after recovering.

However, the actor faced a cancer relapse and succumbed to death. Rishi is survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor and kids Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahani.

Actress Alia Bhatt was recently spotted at the hospital to be there for the Kapoor family in this hard time. Rishi Kapoor's last rites will take place at the Chandanwadi crematorium in Marine Lines, as reported by Spotboye.

Rishi, who has last seen in Jeethu Joseph’s thriller The Body, is survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor, son Ranbir Kapoor and daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. A statement issued by his family said that he ‘would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears’.

The Kapoor family will be leaving for the funeral anytime soon.
