Rishi Kapoor Reveals Why he Didn't Attend his Mom’s Funeral; Opens Up about his Painful times

Rishi Kapoor who is currently in the US receiving treatment for cancer has opened up about one of the most painful phases of his life. The veteran actor had to leave India to get immediate medical help back in 2018 after he was diagnosed with a serious health condition and since then he has not returned to India.

Soon after Rishi flew to the States in September end, two days later his mother, Krishna Raj Kapoor left for heavenly abode. It was a very painful situation for him, neither he was by his mother’s side when she breathed her last nor he could give bid her a final goodbye during her funeral.

Now, after months of receiving treatment, Rishi has been declared cancer-free and is counting the days to return to his home ground. While he is on the road to recovery, there is still some treatment he has to undergo before he flies back to India.

Talking to an entertainment daily, Rishi recalled the time he couldn’t attend his mother’s funeral due to his treatment. When asked about his mother, he said that he feels unfortunate and the entire period was traumatic for him.

“I left for the US on September 29, and my mother passed away on October 1. She knew that I had contracted a serious disorder. That entire period was traumatic for me. I was caught up with my problem. I didn't know what to do, and I didn't have an option because I had to be here in New York. My brother told me that by the time I would get back, it would be too late. Also, I didn't have the stamina or strength to come back,” shared Rishi.

Reportedly, Kapoor senior will be coming back to India in a few months and when he was asked whether or not he will start shooting for films, he revealed that since it has been almost a year that he is away from Mumbai, he needs to come back and first get into the groove since he has been out of touch with films for a long time.
