Veteran film actor, Viju Khote, left for heavenly abode today, on Monday morning in Mumbai. Viju, 77, succumbed to death due to multiple organ dysfunction, and this unfortunate news has come out as dismal for all his fans, family and friends of the industry. Best known for his popular characters as Kalia from Sholay and Robert from Andaz Apna Apna, the actor has appeared in over 300 Hindi and Marathi films and numerous television shows and plays.

The sad news of Viju Khote’s demise has left his friends from the Bollywood industry heartbroken and the celebrities have taken to their social media to mourn the death of their beloved actor.

Rishi Kapoor wrote, “RIP. Viju Khote. Dear friend over the years. Though much elder, we used to bike together along with sister Shobha Khote ji, when I was young. Passionate and well informed about American films. We will miss you" Viju kutte aahe?”

His co-star and dear friend, Madhuri Dixit wrote on Twitter, “Sad to hear about the demise of #VijuKhote Ji. May his soul rest in peace.”

While Ajay Devgn wrote, "Actors like Viju Khote were institutions by themselves. Their large body of work will always be remembered. I'm fortunate to have worked with him on quite a few films. RIP Sir... My heartfelt condolences to the family”Suniel Shetty shared a picture of the late actor and wrote, “Will miss you Viju ji... Rest in peace #vijukhote #RIPVijukhote.”

The late actor's niece Bhavana Balsavar had told PTI that Viju had been unwell for quite some time and as he did not wish to die in the hospital, they had brought him home a few days ago.

Viju made his big-screen debut with the 1964 film Ya Malak and went on to do some of the most iconic characters in Bollywood. His popular films include Sholay, Andaz Apna Apna, Qurbani, Karz, Nagina and China Gate, among others.
