Rhea Chakraborty's shocking statements have yet again given a new twist to the Explosive Drug Case that was being investigated by the Narcotics Control Bureau.

As reported earlier, the 28-year-old actress was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on September 08, 2020, after the team grilled her for long hours for three consecutive days, they came to a conclusion that she was allegedly arranging and financing the consumption of marijuana by her late boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput. The NCB had reportedly claimed in the remand application that Rhea Chakraborty used to procure drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput.

Rhea's arrest came after her brother Showik Chakraborty and Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda's confessions to the NCB and their arrest on Friday.

Now, according to reports, Rhea Chakraborty has retracted her statement to the NCB saying that she was ‘coerced’ (which means persuade (an unwilling person) to do something by using force or threats) into making self-incriminating confessions.

According to a report in Times Of India, Rhea has said in her plea that while she was in custody, she was coerced into making confessions that she is now formally retracting. TOI reports that on Wednesday (September 09, 2020), Rhea moved the special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court seeking bail and retracted her statement to the NCB.

Rhea’s plea also reportedly said, “The NCB has used these basic facts to spin a false narrative that portrays Rhea as being someone who finances the illicit traffic or harbouring of offenders. There is no allegation of Rhea having procured or financed any drug whatsoever outside of the period during which she was in a relationship with Rajput.”

Soon after the arrest on Tuesday, Rhea was taken to the Sion Hospital for her COVID-19 test and for her medical check up. Her medical reports were normal and her Coronavirus test results too came negative.

Following which, Rhea was again taken back to the NCB hospital and around 7:30 PM IST, the NCB conducted a video- conference with the magistrate to take her under judicial custody on the same day. After 1.5 hours of proceeding, the magistrate granted a 14 days judicial custody and Rhea was then taken in remand.

After spending a night at the NCB headquarters, on the morning of September 09, 2020 Rhea, along with her luggage was taken to the Byculla Jail, Mumbai and sent tot the Women's Prison there.

On the other hand, Rhea and Showik’s bail plea will be heard on Thursday (September 10, 2020), that is today, in Special Court, Mumbai. Times Of India quoted Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde saying, “Bail Applications of Rhea Chakraborty and Showik fixed for hearing on 10th Sept 2020 in Special Court, Mumbai.”
