Ever since the trailer of Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh released, the Internet has turned into a divided opinion battle over the actor’s monologue in the film that mocks marital rape in the film. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film revolves around the subject of an extramarital affair in the film.

In the film, Kartik’s monologue which goes like, “Biwi se sex maang lein toh hum bikhaari. Biwi ko sex na de toh hum atyachaari. Aur kisi tarah jugaad laga ke usse sex haasil kar lena toh balaatkari bhi hum hai. (If we ask our wives for sex then we’re called beggars, if we deny them sex then we’re called torturers, and if we coerce them into having sex with us, we’re called rapists),” has irked many who expressed their disappointment over the Internet and criticized the makers and the actor for joking around the sensitive subject of marital rape.

Netizens slammed Kartik for this specific monologue and it looks like the massive criticism has taken a toll on the makers of Pati Patni Aur Woh, as the team has decided to edit the dialogue out of the film.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the producer of the film, Juno Chopra, confirmed that they have removed the dialogue in question, from the film.

Both my grandfather and my dad (Ravi Chopra) made socially relevant films and while I haven’t made one yet, I believe in doing the right thing. Respecting people’s sentiments we’ve edited out the lines.

- Juno Chopra told Mumbai Mirror

While Kartik had not reacted to this brawl, the film’s actress Bhumi Pednekar had come out in defence and stated that the film is not sexist. She had even apologized for the dialogue, stating, “If we have hurt anybody’s sentiments, we are sorry, because that wasn’t the intention. But everybody who is involved in Pati Patni Aur Woh, does not belong to that school, does not belong to that thought process.”

Well, this news may come as a sign of relief to the audience who were offended by Kartik’s monologue in the film. Meanwhile, the film is all set to hit the theatres on 6th December 2019.
