Remembering Ingmar Bergman with film festival in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) Movie buffs in the capital can relive the magic of Academy Award-nominated Swedish film, stage, and opera director Ingmar Bergman at a film festival 'Remembering Bergman: A Retrospective' that begins Friday.

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) Movie buffs in the capital can relive the magic of Academy Award-nominated Swedish film, stage, and opera director Ingmar Bergman at a film festival 'Remembering Bergman: A Retrospective' that begins Friday.

Seven masterpieces of the stalwart, who died at the age of 87 last year, will be showcased during this weeklong extravaganza.

This is the first time that such a retrospective with the original prints of Bergman films is being held in India. In Delhi, it is being held at the Siri Fort auditorium.

Movie aficionados can catch up on Bergman's popular films including - 'Wild Strawberries', 'Summer Interlude', 'Through A Glass Darkly', 'Winter Light', 'The Silence', 'Summer With Monika' and 'The Devil's Eye'.

It is being organised by the Swedish embassy in collaboration with international production house Palador Pictures.

The organisers have aimed at making it a pan-India event. After the completion of its Delhi leg Aug 14, the festival will travel to five other metros, including Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune and Mumbai.
