Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy that starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt has received many accolades ever since its release earlier this year. Not only did the movie launch a fresh talent Siddhant Chaturvedi in Bollywood but also paved a way for many rappers.
\Now, after much appreciation for all over the country, Guneet Monga, who won an Oscar last year for her short film, has made a special announcement of Gully Boy becoming India’s official entry to Oscars 2020. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani’s Excel Entertainment received fabulous reviews from fans and critics and now it is going all the way to the Oscars.
Being the producer, Farhan Akhtar is also quite elated with the news as he took to official social media handle and wrote, "#GullyBoy has been selected as India’s official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards. #apnatimeaayega. Thank you to the film federation and congratulations #Zoya @kagtireema @ritesh_sid @RanveerOfficial @aliaa08 @SiddhantChturvD @kalkikanmani & cast, crew and hip hop crew."

As per reports, Gully Boy was among the 26 entries from India made to the Oscars. Other films in the running were Raazi, Padmaavat, Hichki, October, Love Sonia, Mahanati, Pihu, Kadvi Hawa, Bioscopewala, Manto, 102 Not out, Padman, Bhayanakam, Ajji, Nude, Gali Guliiyan among others.
So far only three films including Aamir Khan's Lagaan, Mother India and Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay have made it to the last round of Oscars. Now, Gully Boy is creating history. Now we just can't wait for the makers and the team of Gully Boy to pick up the coveted Oscar.
