Randeep Hooda is one of the industry's most gifted actors. He's given a number of remarkable performances and wowed audiences with his range on the big screens. Always managing to wow one all with the lengths he goes to for his roles, today, on the 139th birthday of independence hero Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the actor shared the first look of his upcoming biographical film Swatantra Veer Savarkar on social media. As seen, he plays the man Veer Savarkar himself.

Randeep captioned the first glance on Instagram: "This is a salute to one of the tallest unsung heroes of India’s struggle for freedom and self-actualisation. I hope I can live up to the challenge of filling such big shoes of a true revolutionary and tell his real story which had been brushed under the carpet for so long.. Wishing you all a very Happy #VeerSavarkarJayanti!"

The Highway actor moulds himself in the look of Savarkar in a sepia-toned outfit for the poster. Savarkar's cap, round-rimmed glasses, and moustache are all included. 'Hindutva Dharm Nahin, Itihaas Hai,' reads the text on the poster. Mahesh Manjrekar is directing the film, which will begin filming in August 2022.

Meanwhile, he was most recently seen in Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, opposite Salman Khan and Disha Patani. The actor will soon be seen in CAT, a Netflix vengeance thriller. He is set to become an undercover agent in it. Balwinder Singh Janjua, who has penned films like Saand Ki Aankh and Mubarakan, is directing the show. Next, Randeep will star alongside Ileana D'Cruz in the social comedy Unfair & Lovely.

In March, when the film was announced, Randeep shared his thought sabout the project with Mid-Day and said,

“There are many heroes who have played their part in getting us our independence. However, not everyone has got their due. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is the most misunderstood, debated and influential among these unsung heroes.”

The film does not have an official release date yet.

Wow Indians never cease to amaze me. They make movies on gangsters, prostitutes and terrorists. Savarkar was a notorious radical terrorist and founded a filthy fascist ideology. He is burning in hell right now!
