Ranbir & Neil, Fren-ivals

The equation between their ancestral homes dating from as far back as in the time of the grandfathers, Raj Kapoor and Mukesh had seen only a golden period. Daddies Rishi and Nitin for their part have maintained a cordial relationship as well. As the baton now gets passed on to these two promising faces of Bollywood's younger brigade, Ranbir Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh intend making no exception with prioritizing this heirloom like bond between the age old families of tinsel town.

Unknown to the industry they never were. But when they kicked off a start to their acting careers, it was in the same year, 2007 -  Ranbir with his debut movie Saawaryia which met a miserable fate at BO, while Neil's Johnny Gaddar, an unusual select for lead role that in a debut venture, was declared a semi-hit and received critical appreciation. The former didn't turn sour, the latter didn't turn vain and both continued on their own paths to strive for better performances, achievements. This time around, two years down both have earned if not more then at least deserved creditable spots in Bollywood. And on 6th November, when they had one release each hitting the halls together, APKGK for the Kapoor lad and Jail for Neil, the anticipation and sense of rivalry was inevitable.

However, healthy competition has done nothing to mar their personal friendship. Neil was heard to claim the spirit to outdo was only in terms of growing better, that they would always be buddies and that he hopes both their movies do well in their own rights. He remarked also, in an after thought, that he was glad the movies in theme and genre looked like north and south poles!

And us, the fans, can wish them both only the best. They each have built a distinct image of themselves, and hopefully shall continue harnessing the best of their talents, while keeping the bonding warm and alive!
