Rajkumar Santoshi opens up on the remake of 'Andaz Andaz Apna' amid 'Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh's release
Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, who is gearing up for the release of his film 'Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh' talked about his expectation from the film and also shed light on the remake of 'Andaz Apna Apna'.
We have already witnessed the trailer of the upcoming film 'Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh' being helmed by director Rajkumar Santoshi. In a conversation with India Forums, the filmmaker talked about his expectations from the film at the box office. He also shared his views on the remake of his highly acclaimed film 'Andaz Apna Apna'.
When asked if he feels that the film would be able to soar at the box office, he said,
"I hope that audiences will like this film and if they do so it will work at the box office as well. I am not worried much about it.
Like I once created a film Damini, which was a courtroom drama, and the 2nd half of the film didn't have even a single song, even when the distributors said to add a song, I didn't put it because, I felt the drama would get weak. so I am very honest when it comes to my films, and I haven't made any compromises for the box office like this element will work for the BO or this won't. This is the reason I didn't bring anything to the table for 9 years because I wanted to make something of my will."
He further added,
"I will not follow the flavour of the season. That's why I never make sequels also, like Ghayal 2 Ghayal 4, or anything as such. There is a lot of pressure for Andaz Apna Apna, so I said that I might make something in the same genre or something of a similar kind, but I don't like to remake the same thing. It will make me stagnant as a filmmaker. I don't have any dearth of ideas so I will get fresh things and I have been quite successful in doing so."
The film 'Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh' will hit the theatres on 26th January 2023.
