Rajkummar Rao has jumped the barricades of success with his performance to achieve the best out of every possible opportunity he has received so far. The notion of transcending into a character with utmost difficulty has always helped him bag excellent content-driven scripts.

Starting from the bottom Rao was also seen essaying supporting characters, but he never complains; instead, be believes in making the most out of it. Although it all boils down to accepting the opportunities at hand.

The actor has grabbed several critically acclaimed films like Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010), Kai Po Che! (2013), Shahid (2013), Trapped (2016), Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017). In order to avoid monotony, he was seen picking up commercial films.

He says, “As long as I’m a part of different stories, I don’t feel saturated, nor insecure. I know I can’t control my future. My present is what I have. Life surprises you. If tomorrow, I wake up and find things going against me, I have to accept it. It will be a nightmare, but I won’t spoil my ‘now’ because ‘what if that happens’. And if it does, I’m prepared.”

Looking back, I do regret doing one or two films, I won’t name them… I signed them for some emotional reason. But I don’t regret losing out on good films.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Rao revealed about his journey as he mentioned his roots. Being a victim of rejections he is filled with gratitude.

“I really don’t see anything else, and when you do that, it isn’t necessary that you will get the lead role. Yes, I’m a greedy actor, too, and would love to do the most impactful part in a story. But, I know that it might not happen every time. So, when you don’t get that, you don’t stop working. The idea is to make the character I’m portraying as impactful as possible,” says Rao.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajkummar Rao will be next seen alongside Janhvi Kapoor in Roohi Afza, which is a horror comedy-drama film directed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner Maddock Films.
