Rajinikanth’s Comment on CAA Protests Offends Netizens; gets Brutally Slammed

There have been countrywide protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).  The disturbing violence and brutality faced by students protesting has been alarming and the startling pictures, videos that have been surfacing online has created havoc amongst people of the nation.

In the realm of the CAA Protests, several actors from Bollywood have come up and expressed their views on the subject. Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao, Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Anurag Kashyap, Farhan Akhtar, the recent on to join the list is superstar Rajinikanth.

In his tweet, Rajinikanth condemned the use of violence in the protests. “Indian citizens should stand united and aware of the nation’s security and welfare. I am deeply saddened as because of the undergoing violence,” the superstar wrote on his official Twitter handle. 

Rajinikanth’s tweet came after violence broke in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka during the protests against the CAA, and two people were also killed in Mangalore during the protest, as reported by Pinkvilla.

Unfortunately, Rajinikanth’s one tweet irked many on the Internet, and also had people divided on opinion over his comment. Many slammed the actor for his views on the CAA Protest and even started trending the #ShameOnYouSanghiRajini on Twitter.

While, there were his fans on the other hand, who supported his views and hit right back at the trolls by trending #IStandWithRajinikanth on the microblogging site. 

A few days back, director Farhan Akhtar put up a tweet on his official Twitter handle, urging people to gather for the protests in Mumbai.

However, Farhan’s tweet seemed to not have gone down well with senior IPS officer, Sandeep Mittal, who replied to the actor’s tweet saying that he has broken the law.
