The controversy that has been brewing for a long time now is the loggerheads battle between Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors and comedian-actor Kapil Sharma. 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' went off air and was replaced by 'Comedy Nights Live!' starring Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh.

The new show aired its first episode this Sunday and has been receiving a lot of flak with the fans expressing their discontent with the show.

In an interview with a leading news daily, Raj Nayak, CEO of Colors opened up on the controversy and spilled beans over channel's relations with Kapil Sharma.

He said that Kapil Sharma has been on television for over 10 years, from 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' then 'Comedy Circus' to 'Comedy Nights With Kapil'. The channel gave him a platform and co-created 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' where it was the channel's decision to name it with Kapil's name, as they felt it would give him a sense of ownership and his loyalty to the show would be 100%.

He mentioned that the channel also helped him in creating his production company. The success of the show meant that they now had a person who suddenly became a star and fount it difficult to manage his success. According to him, Kapil violated his contract by hosting shows on competitive channels in spite of having an exclusive contract with Colors, which they felt wasn't ethical.

He added his displeasure of letting Kapil and the show go and said, that in a normal course, no channel would ever let go of a good show. But it had to be economically viable and more importantly, business had to be conducted in an ethical manner.

He agreed that for many reasons, the decision to let go a talented and one of the best comedians like Kapil was very tough. However, they never asked him to go. He wasn't happy with the channel and implied that they couldn't have another comedy show on the channel, which was unacceptable to the channel. Hence, he chose to walk out.

He concluded that he feels Kapil is a nice guy, being misled by the people around him for their own survival. He also expressed that he is very fond of him and feels really sad to see him go.

All one can say is Kapil will surely be missed on this channel!

Difficult to buy above story. Creative persons r sensitive and name, fame may not leave them grounded. Starting similar show by the channel was a hit below the belt. Any self respecting person would retaliate. His show in Singapore was well attended.

such a humble person , they cud hv gone legal with kapil if they wanted to go but they hv maintained their dignity , kapil seems so arrogant n cudnt manage such a huge success in such a short period of spam with comedy nights. very wel decision of colors by removing him

Channel could not see the actor getting so much name and fame and created competition with that idiotic show.. Of course, it is good to have competition but don't put the blame on artists.. If Kapil went to host shows on other channels.. he gave laughters and fun to a larger audience and he is blessed with this skill to make people laugh. Please don't stop it.. I have never seen him being rude to co-artists, his humor always comes with a sorry or a gesture to make sure he did not hurt the emotions or cross the line.

if it was kapil who was wrong ,then what about others??why they also went?? only upasana stayed... kapil always helped his friends during his success ...these channels always look only business...no morals no ethics no emotions...

both are at fault, now a days when so many channels are available across it is difficult for any artist to stick to one single channel, so they must enjoy the freedom, if colors would have done that, then no one would have blamed them for bringing a similar show with krishna when CNWK was still on air.
on the other hand, Kapil sometimes goes overboard with his so called comic sense, after popularity, like every famous guy from the industry, his feet is also on air and he has a major attitude problem, i have witnessed, I am in Toronto, last mid 2015 there was a show with Kapil, he was too overconfident about his fame, guess what wo muh ke bal gira, uski Akkad ki wajah se. Uske tickets free mein bhi log lene ko tayar nahi the. channel and the actor both have to be humble especially when today there is no Branding of NO. 1 be a channel or actor, taste and preference changes in seconds not in days or months now.

I do NOT believe a word that comes out of this man's mouth.

Just look at the track record of Colors and it speaks the truth alone.

I will miss Kapil and his team very much but they are better off away from Colors.

And as for this Raj person, save your breath. You are lousy at your job and your track record speaks for itself.

If what Raj Nayak is saying is true then I can understand his reasons. But no doubt me and several families I know got hooked, stayed on with Colors through CNWK. Kapil's show did loose the 'bite' over time but it still remains one of the best ever on the channel
